What Is a REIT and How Does It Work in Nigeria?

A Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is a company that owns income-generating real estate assets — commercial properties, shopping centres, office blocks, or residential estates — and is listed on a stock exchange. Investors buy shares in the REIT, which entitles them to a proportional share of the rental income generated, distributed as dividends.
